Tesla Tire Care: Rotation, Pressure & Wiper Blades

Teslas are heavy and they put down instant torque, which means one thing for your wallet: tires wear faster than they do on a comparable gas car. A little routine care keeps them lasting longer, protects your range, and keeps you safe. None of it is complicated.

1. Rotate on schedule

Tesla recommends rotating your tires roughly every 6,250 miles (or whenever the tread depth difference between front and rear reaches about 2/32"). Because of the weight and torque, skipping rotations leads to uneven, premature wear — and tires are not cheap. Put it on a recurring reminder.

2. Keep an eye on pressure (and trust the TPMS)

Correct tire pressure is the single easiest thing that affects both range and tire life. Find your recommended PSI on the sticker in the driver's door jamb (many Teslas run around 42 PSI). Two things to remember:

A small cordless inflator in the frunk means you can fix a low tire at home or on the road instead of hunting for an air pump — especially important since most EVs don't come with a spare. See our pick on the best portable tire inflators.

3. Watch for uneven wear (alignment)

If you see the inside or outside edge of a tire wearing faster than the rest, that's usually an alignment issue — common on heavy EVs, especially after hitting a big pothole. Getting it aligned early saves the tire.

4. Don't forget wiper blades

Wipers are easy to ignore until it's pouring. Most owners replace them about once a year. Tesla blade sizes vary by model (the Model 3 and Y use different lengths front-to-front), so check your current size before buying. See Tesla wiper blades on Amazon

A simple routine

Rotate every ~6,000 miles, check pressure monthly (and before road trips), keep an inflator in the frunk, glance at tread wear, and swap wipers yearly. That's it — a few minutes here and there that add up to longer tire life, better range, and fewer surprises.
